Austrian Women’s Hockey Team Departs Vienna for EuroHockey Championships in Prague
The sticks are tapped, the tactics are set, and the bags are packed. Austria’s women’s national indoor hockey team has completed its final rigorous training block in Vienna and is poised to depart for the Women’s EuroHockey Indoor Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.
The team leaves the capital in high spirits, aiming to make a deep run in the tournament which kicks off later this week.
Final Preparations Complete
During the final preparation camp held at the team’s training base in Vienna, the coaching staff focused heavily on high-intensity tactical drills, defensive structure, and penalty corner execution. Officials from the Austrian Hockey Federation (ÖHV) report that the squad is injury-free and in peak physical condition.
“The energy in the camp has been exceptional,” a team spokesperson said. “We have used these last few days in Vienna to fine-tune our set plays. Now it is about executing on the European stage.”
A Competitive Contender
Austria enters the championship as a widely respected competitor in the indoor format, a discipline where the nation has historically punched above its weight. Building on consistent results in recent international tournaments, the team is looking to challenge the traditional powerhouses like Germany and the Netherlands.
The event in Prague will feature Europe’s elite women’s indoor hockey teams and is seen as a crucial benchmark for the squad ahead of future global competitions.
Tournament Schedule
The European Championships in Prague are scheduled to take place from January 15–18, 2026. The Austrian team will face a challenging group stage, with the goal of securing a semi-final berth by the weekend.
This adds to a busy month for Austrian sports, following the Ski Flying success of Stefan Kraft and the ongoing winter sports season.
