Several schools in the search area have been put in lockdown.

Serrano is suspected of shooting dead four men in Kansas City on Monday night.

The following day his truck was discovered about 170 miles away from the crime scene, on Interstate 70 in central Missouri.

Police say a 49-year-old man was found shot dead in a rural home about five miles away, near New Florence.

A witness reported seeing a man running from the property.

Sergeant Scott White, of Missouri State Highway Patrol, said: “We suggest that people stay in their homes, lock their doors, and report any person that they don’t recognise in the area.”
