Charles D. 'Pipe' Watts Jr.

Died April 29, 2008
 

Charles D. “Pipe” Watts Jr., 84, a well-known local musician and drummer and a resident of Great Falls for 50 years, died April 29 at his Great Falls home.

Friends may call May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon. A memorial service will be held on May 3 at 3 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Great Falls.

Mr. Watts was born June 2, 1923, in Washington, D.C., to the late Charles D. Watts Sr. and Lenora Elliott Watts. He retired from Wonder Bread and Hostess Cakes after 45 years of service.

He was a founding member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge, St. John, chapter 11.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vivian Watts; four sons, Ken Watts of Sebastopol, Calif., Ron Watts of Greensboro, N.C., Bernie Watts of Great Falls, and Chuck Watts of Ashburn; a daughter, Laura McCabe of Burke; a sister, Evelyn Harter in Maryland, nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 9220 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA 22066.
