Died April 8, 2008

Norma “Peggy” Blanchard, 75, who lived in McLean for 23 years before moving to Naples, Fla., in 2003, died April 8 in Naples from pulmonary fibrosis.

A celebration of her life will take place May 4 at 4 p.m. at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean.

Mrs. Blanchard was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Piatt County, Ill., to the late Lewis and Della Barr. She operated Peggy’s Gallery Antiques, a fixture in Georgetown in the 1980s and early 1990s. She was also a certified personal property appraiser.

She was ordained as a deacon at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member. Mrs. Blanchard was also active in the People to People program and over the years hosted many foreign visitors.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Gene Blanchard; two sons, John Blanchard of Naples, and Stephen Blanchard of Leesburg; two daughters, Susan Blanchard, also of Leesburg, and Jayne Reishus of Naperville, Ill.; two brothers, Lyle Barr and Philip Barr, both of Monticello, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Lewinsville Presbyterian Foundation, 1724 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, VA 22101.
