Top 5 Traveler Friendly Black

By stedor

Next week is Thanksgiving - and I couldn’t be happier. While I love turkey, the true source of my merriment comes from the glorious sales that will be happening the day after thanksgiving. Yes, I know, the crowds are awful, and yes, I know, most of the sales are just to get you in the door - but a truly savvy shopper (or a poor one!) revels in Black Friday - because all the deals are truly out there.

Now, I personally have a system to Black Friday. I look for all the ads, list out what I want, decide what I can afford, and then decide where I am camping out. (And I do camp out - you will find all sorts of people camping out - it’s like a tailgate only in freezing cold weather and no game!)

Well, today I finally stopped to look at all the black friday ads that have come out - and I have for you my top five travel purchases that won’t break your bank.

AIPTEK HD Camcorder at Circuit City
Want to record your travels, but you’re on a budget? No problem, this little guy for the shocking price of $119 does the trick. You can see some reviews at Circuit City’s site, but this little guy has it all for the thrifty shopper. Excellent picture quality and decent sound. The biggest complaint I read online is that there is no picture stabilization, so you have to have a really steady hand if you want perfect video - but this is after all a travel camera - it’s size and cost far outweighs that in my opinion.

Head over to Comp USA and you will find the TomTom One 3rd Edition GPS Device for a shocking $149, which is a full $100 off it’s list price. Now, there is much debate over which of the GPS systems is the best and there are plenty of GPS sales going on for black Friday. I picked Tom Tom because my father has it, and I think it has the most up to date maps, and the voice isn’t so annoying when it talks. You however, might want to shop around and figure out which GPS is the right one for you.

If you happen to hit Comp USA for the Tom Tom, you should also pick this little gem up. Yes, you can get a XM Sportscaster Satellite Radio w/ Car Kit for FREE (after mail in rebate!). Personally, I love my XM, and I know Sam and Jeff do too as we always move it from car to car. You get all your favorite music, the comedy channels, news, and entertainment all in one little device. Plus, it’s awesome to be able to drive from state to state and not have to worry about flipping channels to find the new station in the new town. This little guy never changes. (Except the other day I saw a new Lyndard Skynard station that popped up out of nowhere…)

This one is for all the ladies (or parents) reading the site, over at Best Buy you can pick up a Philips Pink 7″ Portable DVD Player for just $89. In fact, in light of our upcoming 8 hour trip to the Outerbanks, I’m thinking I might have to pick it up. That way I can tune out Sam and Jeff and watch some DVD’s. Also, proceeds from this portable DVD player goto the Susan G Komen Foundation, which has a serious soft spot for this crew, as Sam’s mother is a cancer survivor.

Finally every one of you should be at Kohls, for this 7 piece luggage set for only $49.99. Now, it might not be the best quality, but who can beat that price? No matter where you go, you will always have the correct size bag to take with you. Shoot, split it in half with a friend! (Jeff or Sam - who wants to halfie with me?) Apparently it comes in black, navy or red - and while I don’t know what color you like, or what your store will have, I know that this is one hell of a deal that ya’ll shouldn’t miss out on.

So there you have it, my top five picks for the 2007 Black Friday sales.
