Connector strike ends

The contractor that operates the Fairfax Connecter bus service has reached an agreement with the drivers' union, allowing bus service to return to normal on most routes starting Oct. 3.

The drivers, members of the American Federation of State, Federal and Municipal Employees, went on strike after their contract expired Sept. 14. Union members have not ratified the new contract yet, but are returning to work Friday, according to the Fairfax County Department of Transportation.

Three routes will not resume Friday - 231, 232, 307 and VRE EZ-Bus north and south - but full weekday service is expected to resume on Monday.
