County awards Lorton Prison contract

Fairfax County awarded a Madison, Wis. company to be the master developer of an 80-acre section of the former Lorton Prison site.

The Alexander Co., which specializes in historic preservation, urban infill development and brownfield revitalization, is expected to take six to eight months to complete construction on the site.

The development will include the construction of residential, retail, commercial and educational space.
