Law firm turns 100
By Staff
When the small law firm of McCandlish & Lillard opened in 1908, the population of the Town of Fairfax was about 400.
The founder of the firm, F.D. Richardson, served as the Commissioner of Accounts for Fairfax County, beginning a 90-year tradition of McCandlish & Lillard attorneys serving in that seat.
Richardson's father and grandfather occupied the office of the Fairfax County Clerk of Court for 104 consecutive years.
The firm has produced two presidents of the Virginia Bar Association, five presidents of the Fairfax Bar Association and the current and former Loudoun County Bar Association president.
Today, the firm employs a team of 20 lawyers with offices in Leesburg and Fairfax.
