Crime beat
Malicious wounding
On the evening of Sunday, June 15, a 43-year-old man was hit on the head with a hammer.
The victim, of no fixed address, was in the 6000 block of Leesburg Pike in Falls Church when a man approached him and struck him on the head. The suspect then fled north on Glen Carlyn Drive in a white van. The victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as possibly Hispanic, around 140 pounds, 5 feet 4 inches tall and wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.
Woman robbed at stoplight
On the morning of Friday, June 13, an Alexandria woman was robbed while she sat in her car at a stoplight in the 7000 block of Hickory Hills Road in Falls Church.
At around 6 a.m., the victim, 31, was sitting in her car when a woman walked to the open car window, pulled the victim out of the car by her hair. Two nearby men then opened the car door and rifled through the victim's belongings, stealing cash, credit cards and a cell phone. The suspects then fled the scene in a maroon, four-door car. The victim was not seriously hurt, police said.
The female suspect is described as Hispanic, about 30 years old with a long ponytail, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, wearing blue jeans and a gold T-shirt. The other suspects are described as Hispanic men in their 20s, both around 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing blue jeans and white T-shirts.
Break-in at West Springfield High School
On the early morning of Saturday, June 14, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested at West Springfield High School.
At 4:30 a.m., a school security officer found a door propped open. It was later determined that the suspects broke a window with a rock to get into the school. Police responded and the two suspects were seen running through the hallways and were then arrested as they tried to leave the school.
Nicholas Flynn-Tanner, 18, of 7903 Greeley Blvd. in Springfield and the 17-year-old were charged with burglary. Flynn-Tanner was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The other suspect was released to the custody of his parents.
BB fired at passing car
A Springfield man was driving along Roberts Road near Commonwealth Boulevard in Fairfax when his car was shot by a BB gun. Police found a small hole in the passenger door. There is no suspect and the victim was not injured.
Man attacked with baseball bat
In the early morning of Sunday, June 22, a 27-year-old Annandale man was beaten and robbed by two men with a baseball bat. The victim was walking west along Little River Turnpike near Edward Street when he was approached and assaulted, according to police.
Police said the victim crawled into a ditch and a drainpipe to escape. The robbers took money and then fled the scene.
The victim was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspects were described as Hispanic men between 18 and 20 years old. On suspect wore a green shirt and gray pants.
