Fire damages Annandale apartment building

Two adults and three children have been displaced after an apartment fire in Annandale on the evening of Saturday, June 21.

At 10:35 p.m., fire and rescue units responded to the burning three-story apartment building at 4113 Wadsworth Court.

Damage is assessed at $25,000. According to fire officials, an electrical "anomaly in the furnace room caused the fire."

Fire officials caution homeowners to repair or replace frayed or loose electrical cords, avoid overloading outlets and to follow the manufacturer's instructions for plugging an appliance into an electrical outlet.
