FCPS honors school resource officer

Police Officer First Class Marvin Goodley, the school resource officer for Carl Sandburg Middle School in the Mount Vernon District, has been named the 2008 Distinguished School Resource Officer of the Year by Fairfax County Public Schools.

Goodley has been a SRO at Sandburg for five years, creating programs that deter students from gang participation and facilitating workshops and teaching civics classes on juvenile justice and criminal law procedures.
