Mulligan Road to be built with four lanes

A key connector road to accommodate the anticipated influx of federal defense workers in southern Fairfax County will now be built with four lanes, instead of the two-lane road funded by the federal government.

Mulligan Road will connect Telegraph Road and Richmond Highway, replacing a connection formerly made by Woodlawn Road, which was closed due to security concerns after Sept. 11, 2001. On Monday, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved spending $12.1 million in commercial and industrial tax revenues to supplement the $32.8 million in federal funds for the road project.
