A Quest for Moravians
A Quest for MoraviansBy Beloved
I was in my prayer closet the other day and as I was praying, all of a sudden, I found myself saying “God, I need more information on Count Zinzindorf and the Moravian’s! I tell you it is amazing sometimes what comes out of ones mouth when you are in your prayer closet!
Well, no one knew about this prayer request, but guess what God did! Well let me tell you the whole story. Our family was planning a daytrip and we couldn’t decide on where to go. What a dilemma! Finally the day before our planned day trip to wherever, I come home and my husband says, “How about visiting Littitz, PA?” To which I replied, “What’s in Littitz? Then he says, “There is a Chocolate Factory and a Pretzel Factory, here read this blurb!” So I’m reading this blurb and lo and behold in the second paragraph what do I read but that Littitz was founded by Count Zinzindorf and the Moravians in 1740 or something!
Imagine my excitement! I replied “We’re there!” What an awesome trip! I could barely contain my excitement. We went to the Visitor’s Center, the Chocolate Factory, the Pretzel Factory and saving the best for last the Moravian Church. Now you have to understand the day was Monday and a National Holiday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the odds are not in our favor that they would be open. We head over to the Moravian Church. It’s closed. I see over to my right a gift store; surely the gift store would be open. No, it’s closed January and February for renovations. I’m thinking Lord, I was sure this was You, providing the answer to my prayer!
Imagine my joy when I see out of the corner of my eye someone leaving the church offices. Most church offices are closed on Mondays. I start to get excited again! I told my family that I would be just a moment as I just had to check and see if there was anyone who would be able to provide me with the information that I was searching for! I walked into that office and imagine my surprise when I saw not one but 6, 7, or 8 folks busy as bees that all stopped what they were doing as soon as I walked in! Boy, did I feel conspicuous! Anyway let’s get on with the story.
So I’m standing there explaining to these folks how I needed more information on Count Zinzindorf, the Moravian’s and how they were instrumental in birthing the modern day 24/7 prayer watch and missions! As I am rattling along everyone in the office starts looking at this one lady, who while I was talking started percolating with excitement and they all said “you need to talk to her!”
What a blessing she was! She said that they were in the middle of renovating their gift store but if I didn’t mind some construction mess she would be more than happy to help me in my quest for more Moravian information. It turns out she is a historian of the Moravians. I tell you when God answers prayer He answers prayer! WOW! God is so AWESOME! I swear we had revival right then and there!
The story doesn’t end with that incident. I have come to find out from my husband, we have scheduled a mini vacation in June to go treasure hunting and guess what; the place was also founded by the Moravians! Imagine my delight. I wonder what treasure we’ll find! J I’ll keep you posted!
God is good!
