Around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, a gas explosion ripped through the top floor of a residential building in Vienna’s Margareten district.

According to police spokesman Roman Hahslinger, the incident occurred on the top floor of a residential building in Brandmayergasse.
There were no reported injuries.  Many onlookers were at the site of the explosion and watched firefighters search the rubble.
The spokesman of the Vienna fire brigade, Gerald Schimpf, told the Austrian Press Association (APA) that there were six units attending the scene.
